Le Cigare Volant & Zorro In Cologne
21 Oct
It’s been a good cigar week, or rather month – naw, make that a good cigar year so far.
Funny how every week brings some kind of cigar event or trip or just a day enjoyed with an especially good cigar.
We had the usual 13-day routine of the pharmacy cigar event and Walter had a special bottle for me that we shared, a bottle of Californian red named after a 1954 ban of “flying cigar shaped saucers” from landing in the Chateauneuf-du-Pape vineyards. Le Cigar Volant – The Flying Cigar.
It was at that ANS also that I saw the first NC with a nice tobacco beetle hole …
I smoke a daily pre- or after dinner cigar at the village Irish pub and the exemplary cigar of the week was a Bolivar EL 2014 – very good !
Highlight of the week certainly was yesterday’s meeting up with Frank “Zorro” halfway in our regular cigar lounge at Pitter’s in Cologne.
Both of us being shady characters with colourful reputation, the passing of an Edmundo Dantes Mexico ER box as well as some fake as hell bundles of un-banded, un-official, un-fucking-believably excellent XXX cigars from me to Zorro was conducted in the underground parking garage.
Zorro also received a cool looking shirt in blue with his name on the breast pocket and Cuba on the back, made by Signdicate, great quality and service, – but he refused wearing it for pictures claiming it would look too gay next to my red shirt ….
A splendid relaxed half day with good conversations and planning for next year after I received the usual mock-serious 15 minute intellectual round trip from the fox.
Purely by chance we stumbled upon some left-over boxes of some overrated German regional release that Mr Negative would not buy due to the hype around it and, being good friends of the staff there, we agreed to take a few off their hands for proper disposal burying them in our respective cellars.
I am sure we will regret being stupid enough to buy these long over-due, over-hyped and overrated boxes one day …. So we’d like to give Mr Negative a cheerful middle finger for not adhering to his advice and going “deep on them” …
Cigars were better for me than for Frank as he had a cold and smoked only short cheap & cheerful sticks. I smoked a Partagas 170 and later a ’99 Partagas Churchill and both cigars were un-fucking-believably excellent.
We parted ways and returned home to Belgium and central Germany and after a half day with Zorro smoking cigars I had to brake for a real life fox crossing the road between the vineyards entering my village …
Thanks for a good time Zorro !

Nino, I think you will be the very first person I know who owns 10% of a release! lol
Oliver, I’d be very happy with 1 % … 🙂
