Belgians In Havana Nr 2 – Emrah And Cuba Pasion

A truly very attractive discovery this trip, and I am not talking a “Hole In The Wall” place but a significant old mansion converted into a stylish restaurant and cigar lounge by a Belgian long time resident in Havana.

Yannick directed me to this place, Cuba Pasion, and we spent some long hours enjoying cigars, lunches, long conversations and a good time with Emrah, the Belgian manager/owner.

This stunning place, centrally located just 2 blocks up from the Habana Libre hotel next to the University and across the Hotel Colina at Calle L e/ 27 y Ave Universidad is open 7 days a week from 11 am to midnight and offers yet another unique civilized oasis for cigar smokers.

Emrah is not just an aficionado, he has written a guide to Habanos that is very in-depth and informative. He will inform you and give you the best advice available on cigars if you are looking for serious information.

He is also a rum connoisseur who will sit down and share his rums – and not just the Cuban rums but also the most interesting from the Caribbean, and smoke a cigar with you giving you a particularly well informed view on Cuba, which he is able to after working many years as a journalist for a Cuban press agency.

Distinguished Cuban cigar smokers like the “Balcon del Habano” meet here monthly to savour the best Habanos as well the “Amigas del Habano”, a ladies cigar club.
