This week-end some of the local wine estates held an open house for anyone interested in their products – come in and taste – free of charge of course.

Inge and I visited two very good wine producers in the village, a nice walk there, and once again tasted their wine while having a good time.

At Dorst, see: www.weingut-dorst.de/ we had a little snack and tried their red and white wines, great selection and very good quality.

Next day we visited the Weinmann estate, the place where we get our “daily” asparagus for years when in season like just right now.

Friendly folks there, the younger Ms Weinmann is an accomplished wine master who has received awards for the quality of their wines.

Again, very good wines that were a pleasure to taste. Especially good blending was the combination of local grapes with either Merlot or Cabernet-Sauvignon.

I finished the evening with – what else, a nice dinner of asparagus washed down with a bottle of Weinmann Silvaner and followed it with a H.Upmann Maravillas, the third cigar from our factory tasting that we had to take along as we didn’t have the time to complete the tasting in Havana.

The humidity content had been reduced quite a bit by now and so I smoked an excellent cigar, creamy, round and perfect to enjoy in the terrace to a Torres 10 yr old Brandy.
