Kitchen Confidential – Cigars With The Chef
2 Feb
I continue the face-to-face-quality-cigar-smoking-time ( God what an ugly word, urrrghh, but can’t find a better one ) posts with Thursday’s and yesterday’s dinner at Herve’s RW’s next village from us in Rommersheim.
Thursday it was a meeting of the Alzey cigar friends and I joined in for a good dinner and a fantastic Prominente from my stock.
Herve did not only cook and serve us, he took the time and interest to try all our cigars and found remarkable comments on their taste – quite spot on for a cigarette smoker.
We finished it off with a bottle of Alsatian Ginger liquor, Liqueur de Gingembre, an all-time favourite of us.
Then it was back-to-back dinner at Herve’s, as we met there again the next evening for our regular Friday dinner & cigars.
Fantastic Steak Tartare prepared on the spot for us and followed by a leg of Veal, very tasty and accompanied by very good Rose Schorle’s of Spanish Rose and Chateauneuf du Pape red. Cigars were Siglo IV that smoked just dandy.
Of course we finished with Ginger and Espresso before a last cigar at the local Irish Pub – a H.Upmann Magnum 50 from a 50 cabinet that had an Asbestos wrapper to it that would refuse to take fire from a jet flame and was tossed after too many attempts to re-light it, an under-filled and fire-resistant big bugger.
Next Monday will be Horsemeat day in Alzey, long time no had, so I will be there with Rainer and Olli for a good old-style Pferde-Hackbraten mit Zwiebeln.
So you think this is having too much of a good time ??
As the little mouse said to the elephant while having sex : Suffer baby…
Just kidding đŸ™‚
