Cologne – Cuba Planning With Gino And Frank
31 Jan
Been busy with my injured left knee but all has come out dandy and after a further consultation here and treatment I should be back in my dancing shoes by the time I hit Havana. Rest, treatment and anti-inflammatory medicine should work the magic.
Won’t be able to contribute much on the field at the Cigar Bowl III that Rob Fox has again organized this year, but I’ll cheer, clap, celebrate, drink and smoke from the dug-out.
So I drove up to Cologne this Tuesday to spend half a day and a long evening with my friends Gino and Frank – one coming up from France and the other over from Belgium for an intimate, very relaxed and informative cigar session at Peter Heinrichs excellent LCDH.
Frank and I planned some details for the upcoming Cuba trip where Frank will be my side-kick and housemate for a week of the Festival and Gino added his insights and prepared his trip later this spring to Havana.
Cigars were a Siglo III with coffee waiting for Frank to arrive, a “funny” 1966 that needs no further bother, MC 520 as always tasty and an excellent RA Phoenicia 30 after a delicious dinner across the street at “Stella’s”, a small and intimate Italian Trattoria that served us fantastic baby squids in garlic, a good beef Carpaccio, extremely tasty Spaghetti Frutti di Mare and a decent rabbit cacciatore – good to know, the place is too good not to repeat.
Always a great experience to share face-to-face quality time with these buddies.
Even if Gino insists in calling me Tio …. 🙂
Next dinner with Frank will be in Havana but already looking forward to our next Cologne meeting.
