"nfcIt’s dangerous enough to open your cigar caddy in Havana around friends – but you open it with Reza around and you can expect the contents to be immediately “socialised” … no defence admitted.

Having Reza and Jose from El Laguito over at my Casa I passed the two cigars from MRN’s vintage tasting to Reza as he had not been able to attend but was gracious enough to inform me ahead.

So while giving him the two cigars he notices the Cohiba Lanceros in Cellophane from the 80’s and snatches them, passing one to Jose.

Jose couldn’t believe his eyes – he was absolutely impressed and in love with the stick, so much so that he vowed to never smoke it and place it in his cigar shrine at home.

Rubbish, we said, you smoke that cigar and you smoke it now, there’s more so no worries.

So Jose smoked the Cohiba and almost had tears in his eyes from all the satisfaction it gave him. Deeply impressed and praising its qualities in the highest terms – like so many Cubans even in the cigar industry, he’s never smoked such an aged cigar before.

It was a pleasure to watch his happiness and the bliss that cigar gave him.
