I received this cigar last week.

Having read both positive and negative opinions about it, I decided to smoke it at yesterday’s pharmacy cigar evening.

Supposedly these cigars – both the RyJ and the Montecristo Añejado line – were rolled in 2008 and then left to age in Havana to be released this year.

I personally saw the boxes, cigars and master cases in several Havana factories I visited during my last trip – see my post :

http://flyingcigar.de/startseite/new-aged-habanos-for-2015/

My tasting notes :

Very nutty, delicate cold draw – nice.

Very good draw, dry aromas, pleasant, very mild/light from the start, but could develop into a bigger punch.

OK from the start but nothing remarkable, let’s keep “nice” as the main characteristic …

I notice the bands are completely loose, funny for a newly banded cigar …

No marked progress in first third, remains very mild, no marked flavours to be distinguished, bland, dull. Maybe light cocoa, but very weak.

Ash very light, ash colour shows some age.

Still unremarkable in second third, not much improved. Hot air.

Switched beverages from Budweiser (original Pilsen, not the coloured US piss water ), to a 15 y.o. Glenlivet but it drowns the cigar despite it being a medium bodied Malt.

No progression or change in last third.

Conclusion : Not impressed, especially not at € 18 a pop.

Smoking time : 1:25 hrs.

Nino

I received this cigar last week.
