"nfcNot a great sunny first of May holiday for a wine tasting, we are still waiting for great sunny days here, few and far between so far.

A very informal light lunch menu prepared by Herve inside a local winery, Weingut Hoch in Wallertheim, around the corner from us, and a tasting of their, excellent, wines.

I had the job of finding us some white for the asparagus season and came back with Schwarzriesling ( Blanc des Noir ), Grauer Burgunder and a fine Silvaner, all having plentiful bouquet and the necessary freshness.

Always good to tour the area for innovative quality winemakers as we had heard ( and tasted ) their wines before.

Smoking a Siglo I after Herve’s asparagus lunch I bumped into our tax consultant and had a pleasant hour of conversation while continuing the winetasting.

It was then back to the village and dinner with Hans before we settled down with good cigars in the pub to watch Bayern crush and humiliate Barca, a boring match compared with yesterday’s Real-Dortmund adrenaline filled thriller.
