Back from a quick visit to Havana, I’ll start with a report on this new “oasis” in lovely Miramar as I truly needed a quiet place this trip which was more of a whirlwind than a vacation.

I have for a long time not been to Cuba for only 8 days and having a few things to organize it was, well let’s say more than hectic at times.

Having a great Casa particular truly helped a lot ( will be a later report ), but having nice, quiet places to hang out is most valuable to recharge batteries while running around the city.

I had heard from my friend Toby about this new Paladar and decided to check it out. It is located in a quiet side-street of Miramar and easy to miss.

We went there to get some take-away food for a lunch with friends, sat down, had a drink and a look at the Menu. From the start I liked the friendly staff and rustic atmosphere. Service was attentive and friendly.

More so as I had the chance to meet Enrique, the owner. A long time friend from the original managing crew at Espacios, my favourite Havana spot who has decided to set up his own place.

It is a Tapas and snacks place, but the Burger at Tocamadera is the best by far if you are in the mood for it. Juicy, delicious, with a mustard/honey sauce and most definitely worth the visit. We took 5 away for lunch and decided to come back for a more relaxed sit-down lunch a few days later.

We all loved the place and the food, Focaccia, Tuna Tataki, spicy Chicken and Burger again. The dessert, an iced Mousse-Mocca tart was also excellent.

I was there with my good friend Javier, a catering business manager and cigar lover ( Muchas Gracias por el Sublime divino Javi ! ), Christian, a passionate cook himself and Ed, an American friend – they all should know about food and Burgers … we all enjoyed the place.

It is quite a small Paladar with just a few tables outside and 4 tables inside. Nicely decorated with old Soviet memorabilia and lots of dark wood. No wonder it’s called Tocamadera or Touch Wood in English.

And the best part, it is a Regueton-free area … 🙂

Highly recommended and will be a go-to spot for us when in Havana.
