Frank and I like to keep our promises.

Last year in Hong Kong, our generous host Min Ron Nee was so gracious as to present us with a Magnum of 1996 Dom Ruinart and threw in some Monte A sticks from the early 80’s that we had been smoking with him at Cigar Divan.

Frank thought it would be a nice idea to enjoy both on a nice summer day in the Lommel Sahara. I agreed. We promised MRN to do it.

And here I was a year later carrying a heavy cooler through the pine tree forest helped by Frank and followed by Jos towards one of the lakes at the Lommel Sahara.

We found a quiet shady place by the lake, extended a blanket, opened the bottle and lighted the Monte A.

What an incredible 3 hr experience it was !

A superb cigar paired with an spectacular vintage Champagne that cleansed the palate and matched the cigar giving it an additional level of enjoyment that is unrivalled and proving MRN’s theory that nothing goes better with vintage cigars than a good vintage champagne ….

Quiet moments of contemplation, the conversation geared towards our upcoming trip to Hong Kong to have a repeat experience of a week with MRN again very soon and watching the ducks and the swans on the lake. No sounds, very peaceful and relaxing.

A quick shower and a good steak dinner surrounded by the yearly Lommel Kirmees village fair and enjoying a good cigar, a couple of beers and a stroll through Lommel.

Next day it was a morning cigar with Frank before hitting the road back home with a stop in Aachen for a PLPC from the LCDH there – nothing to write home about.

Back home, the pharmacy cigar evening was waiting for me.

Great trip and soon another, longer and more exciting voyage is coming up.

Life is good.
