Another great culinary discovery and my last post on this trip.

Jaime and Tina, my Chinese friends wanted a good Pizza for dinner and I knew Walter had left La Carboncita earlier for a new restaurant so there were not many choices – I decide to call Toby, the man who knows the best places in Havana and a short time later we had a table reserved at Bella Ciao in Playa.

A very relaxed, laid-back place, more like a beach hut really, although it has an a/c salon. But the atmosphere outside is just brilliant, friends, families, all very casual and relaxed.

Run by two Italian friends the service and attention is fantastic with one of them, the chef, taking the orders and recommending any specials.

He mentioned a fish soup and I went for it – it was the most spectacular fish soup I’ve ever had, more like a Bouillabaisse really. Huge plate full of the freshest seafood. Brilliant. Had to repeat that dish a few times ….

The beef was also among the best I’ve had in Havana, tender and very large portions as well accompanied by potatoes, a rare find in Havana.

The pizzas were of course really good and tasty and all my friends were completely happy and impressed by this Italian “beach hut” in Havana.

Ciao Bella Havana – Hasta pronto !
