Cigarbowl I – Baseball Game Rollers vs Merchants
A brilliant and very funny idea by the Fox Bros and the UK-Irish retailers ( Fox, Hunters & Frankau and Sautter ) and hopefully to become a tradition from now on – the “Cuban Cigar Bowl”.
Andy Ryan informed me about it and I promised to attend – after all my first Baseball game ever.
Fun it sure was, starting with the delay getting to ( and finding ) Guanabacoa stadium.
We drove there from our Hotel at the time the game was supposed to start and arrived jointly with the bus full of players, drinking supplies, cigars, the giant ashtray that was the trophy and the international gang.
I didn’t understand a thing about the rules, but certainly smoking & drinking on the field were permitted so who cares about other rules, right ?
Alex, Naka, Rob, Stuart, Nic, Hamlet, Armando, Ian, Miguel, Yorgos, Harry, Balmaseda, Sautter and all had their fun and the Cubans won in the end 22-6.
